No signal needed

A messaging app that skips the internet

Jack Dorsey's Bitchat app sends messages using only Bluetooth. No Wi-Fi, no mobile data, no SIM card required.

Built by Dorsey

Twitter's co-founder tries decentralization again

Bitchat hit Apple's TestFlight and filled 10,000 tester spots fast. It follows Dorsey's push toward apps free of big tech servers.

How it works

Phones relay messages across a Bluetooth mesh

Bluetooth Low Energy reaches 30 to 100 metres. Messages hop between nearby phones, and offline devices hold them until reconnection.

Privacy first

Encrypted chats with no accounts required

Curve25519 and AES-256-GCM encrypt every message. No phone number, no email, no cloud server ever sees your conversation.

Real world use

Built for crowds, disasters and protests
